Crackdown: 17 involved in street crimes arrested

BAHAWALPUR: Police announced on Saturday to have arrested 17 suspects of street crime.

Bahawalpur DPO Sarfraz Ahmad Falki told newsmen at a press conference that the suspects were involved in 53 cases of robbery.

He said cash and dozens of motorcycles had been seized from them. “The suspects used to snatch cash and mobile phones on gunpoint and shot citizens who resisted them. Among those arrested are: Nauman of Nomi gang, Rehan of Shano gang, Farhan of Fani gang and Akhtar of Akhtari gang,” Falki said. He said that 42 cases of motorcycle snatching and armed robbery had been traced to the Fani and Akhtari gangs.
