Bad cop: 22 cops punished for negligence, corruption

During the Orderly Room on Wednesday, Operations DIG Haider Ashraf awarded punishment to 22 policemen and dismissed three from service, including the Gulshan-i-Ravi SHO. They are accused of corruption, negligence and misconduct. SHO Hasnain Ali was dismissed from service for not registering cases on time and for registering fake cases. ASI Daud and lady constable Sitara Ahmad were dismissed from service on charges of corruption and misuse of power.


Ashraf also withheld the service of six policemen including Mustafa Town SHO Ali Ajwad. The DIG ordered suspension of increment for three policemen. Two cops were demoted from their current ranks while the promotion of one inspector was stopped. Ashraf censured seven policemen. He said there was no place for corrupt and negligent policemen. “Whoever misused power would be dealt with sternly.” He said the police should serve citizens religiously.
