2.5 million illegal immigrants living in Sindh: Interior secretary

KARACHI: At least 2.5 million illegal refugees are residing in Sindh, Interior Secretary of Sindh Niaz Abbasi said in a press statement on Tuesday, Express News reported.

"There are 2.5million people living in Sindh illegally, of which, 0.9million are Afghan refugees; this is an injustice to the province," said Abbasi.

The interior secretary also gave a briefing at Garden Police Headquarters, where he said that out of 12 million weapon licences, only 25 per cent have been registered and computerised.

Commenting on police performance in the province, Abbasi said a few 'black sheep' were present in the force as well as other security departments. He said action is taken against such elements.

This is nothing but an emotional political statement meant to waken the secretary from slumber during office hours. The PPP is in power for the last seven.......what have they done? What can they do about the 2.5 million illegal aliens? If they can, then do something about it and prove their worth in one activity, at the very least. Salams

Unfortunately the police is politicized. All the VIPs have their own rules. Its time for the VIPs to come out of their drawing rooms and make policies to deal with the situation. Ok you capture all the illegal lets say Afghans, then what will you do. ?? Why always such stupid statements from the ministers. When they will learn to solve the problem instead of just highlighting. With deteriorating law and order, all the capable citizens are leaving the country. Who will work for the solution. Wake up VIPs and talk for the solution, police and rangers are still capable to deal with the situation.
