Narrow Escape: FC convoy attacked in Quetta

QUETTA: The security convoy of Frontier Corps (FC) narrowly escaped a remotely controlled improvised explosive device (IED) blast on Saryab Road on Friday. However, one FC soldier was injured in the explosion. According to Saryab Police, an IED was planted on a bicycle parked along the roadside in Saryab Mill area and was remotely detonated when FC convoy on patrolling duty passed by. The blast also damaged one FC vehicle. Rescue workers and extra contingent of law enforcers rushed to the blast site and immediately shifted the injured soldier to FC hospital for treatment. “The apparent target of the explosion was the FC convoy,” Imran Qureshi, SP Saryab Circle, told The Express Tribune. “No civilian was hurt in the attack,” he added. Some police official said that Baloch separatist groups could be responsible for the attack.
