LAHORE: Several policy makers, programme planners, academicians, private sector representatives and donors participated in a seminar on Supporting the Health Sector on Friday. The seminar aimed at highlighting contributions of the UK Department for International Development’s Technical Resource Facility (TRF) in the Punjab. Participants shared details of the ways the TRF had supported the Punjab’s health sector. They also discussed recommendations for the Health Department in working with potential development partners. The TRF and the Health Department have developed a Medium-Term Budgetary Framework and a business plan to align its own, as well as development partners’ investment in the health sector. It also helped the department develop standard specifications for drugs, supplies and medical equipment; and an online system to monitor the performance of health facilities. The TRF has also helped the Nursing Council in revising its curriculum and examination system.
