Parents of the children who died over the past 24 hours had blamed insufficient oxygen supply in the nursery ward and negligence of hospital staff for the deaths.
DHQ Hospital management had, however, denied allegations and said that there was no deficiency of gas in any ward.
A senior doctor at the hospital, Adilah told Express News that there was indeed a lack of oxygen in the ward and each child was receiving far less oxygen than they required.
"The resources available to us are not sufficient however, we are doing our best," she said.
She further explained that there were very few incubators to cater to the increasing number of children being admitted to the ward.
The latest victims were a two-day old girl and a pair of twins.
A three-member investigation committee - formed to investigate the tragedy - had sent a comprehensive report on the matter to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Govt should ban all foreign free treatment for MPA/MNAs others for all diseases. They are not begger to take money from us
For a moment, forget about government or society, etc. What is the hospital staff doing? Its not that these children are coming from a blast zone. They are admitting women about to give birth, receiving new born babies, which generally require just human care and attention. Ok, one, or two or three babies may die because of lack of facilities but such a large number? and continuing, can only be because of willful neglect of staff. The problem in Pakistan is the dead humanity amongst all of us.
If Shahbaz Sharif's grand children were treated in this hospital this atrocity would never have happened.
More Metro Buses any one?
If this article goes unnoticed then we as a Nation is to be equally blamed - the voice needs to be raised at an appropriate platform as this has become an ongoing practice and like always the poor are suffering and suffering......no accountability; the state of government hospitals continue to remain miserable while the every day bills of the PM house runs into lacs!!! wake up Nation and hold these miscreants responsible......there is limit to a bad governance....people are dying everyday and all they do is set up a committee just to fool innocent people and continue to direct the state money towards their own luxuries!!! Utho Jago Pakistan!
This is truly shocking even by Pakistani standards. This is an ongoing tragedy, rather than trying to fix it the government is busy forming committees to affix blame. What a farce!
