ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has developed new varieties of white maize to boost crop production in the country. Addressing a two-day “National Maize Workshop” and annual progress review under the Agricultural Innovation Program (AIP), PARC Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad said scientists have designed a pathway to take maize germplasm to the clients in order to boost production at a large scale. The workshop was organised by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center in collaboration with PARC whereas the USAID provided financial assistance for the programme. Ahmad said that PARC, with help of National Rural Support Programme, was able to reach farmers to introduce new varieties of maize which would help to enhance crop output.
