Police claimed on Thursday to have arrested the leader of a gang which allegedly exhumed bodies for black magic.
City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Habib Tajik told The Express Tribune that a complaint had been moved by Ali Sher, a resident of 616-GB, in which he said his child died on November 15, two hours after being born.
Sher said he had buried the infant the village graveyard. He said he visited the grave two days later and saw that the grave had been dug up and the body was missing.
The CPO said a team was formed to investigate the complaint. He said the police finally were led to one Suleman Ahmad, who had dug up the grave with the help of Mansab Ahmad and a Bakht Bibi.
He said Ahmad had been arrested in a raid and had confessed to exhuming bodies to sell organs for black magic. The CPO said a team had been constituted under DSP Fazal Abbas to find and arrest his accomplices.
