HARIPUR:

Two officials of the revenue department were dismissed from service while others were penalised after a departmental enquiry found them guilty of corruption and misconduct, official sources at the deputy commissioner’s office said on Wednesday.

Insiders said an enquiry was ordered by Haripur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nisar Ahmad Khan following complaints of landowners against nine patwaris and a girdawar. During the enquiry, conducted by Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Irshad Khan, six patwaris and a girdawar were found guilty of financial misappropriation and misconduct.

The DC then dismissed patwari Wajid Shahzad from service while girdawar Muhammad Nawaz was asked to take up enforced retirement.

Two patwaris, Abid Sultan and Faisal Aftab, were punished with a ban on their promotion along with withholding their increments for two years. Similarly, patwaris Mohammad Irfan and Aslam were warned to mend their ways while Muhammad Safdar was transferred.
