KARACHI: The police have so far been unable to arrest the suspects involved in the killings of six people, including a child, in Orangi Town.

Suspected criminal Sajid Akbar, 10-year-old Irfan Jan and passer-by Moalim Jan were gunned down within the limits of SITE A Section police station on Sunday night. A day earlier, three people were shot dead by unidentified persons in the same area.

Although six people were killed at the same place within two days, police officials have failed to arrest the culprits. DSP Majeed Abbas told The Express Tribune that the incidents were unlinked. "The three men who were shot and killed on Saturday night were criminals killed by their accomplices over an internal gang dispute," he claimed. "Akbar's killing is a different matter."

He said that Akbar had been the target of the attack but the culprits had accidentally also struck a boy standing near his home and a passer-by. Abbas added that although Akbar was also involved in various criminal activities, the reason for the attack was that he had married of his own will.

"Our investigations so far indicate that he was killed by his wife's relatives over this issue," the officer said. "Unfortunately, they also took the lives of two innocent people." A case has been registered against unidentified persons and further investigations were underway.
