The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has handed over possession of almost 90 per cent of the total area reserved for Islamabad Model Prison to the ICT Administration.

Once constructed, the prison would have a capacity to house over 2,000 prisoners. A boundary wall to secure the area from encroachments has already been constructed by the Pakistan Public Works Department.
