Sitar maestro: Abdul Latif Khan mesmerises audience at RAC
Tabinda and Naveed Mushtaq anchored the session, in which Khan shared his personal stories and tremendous career with music lovers with Sami Khan was on the tabla.
The session began with the performance of Khan’s student Umair Rauf who played ‘Rag Maig’ on sitar followed by a folk song ‘Yar Langh a Ja’. Khan’s own performance started with ‘Raag Pahari’ on ‘Teen Taal’ that received applause from the audience. Khan also mesmerised the audience by presenting ‘Mujh Say Pehli Si Mohabat’ and ‘Gulon Mein Rang’.
Addressing the occasion, Punjab Assembly Member Lubna Rehan Pirzada said Khan is a great asset of the country who represented and produced a positive image of Pakistan worldwide. RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed said Khan’s art is matchless, adding that he is truly the pride of Pakistan.
The programme was part of RAC’s efforts for the revival of classical music and musical instruments. Hundreds of families thronged the council to enjoy the maestro’s performance.
