Lashing out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday demanded the release of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were arrested and sent to jail in Bannu.
“Instead of apologizing for its inefficiency and poor arrangements for distribution of relief goods, the K-P government put hapless people, who are sacrificing their homeland, behind bars,” he said. “The arrested IDPs should be released with respect and honour immediately, and compensated for their ordeal.”
In future, the K-P government should make better arrangements, rather than making lame excuses, the minister added.

Rashid said PTI chief Imran Khan did not consider caring for IDPs his party’s responsibility. “He [Imran] is a supporer of terrorists and his party’s government is punishing the IDPs,” he claimed. “Imran must accept responsibility for K-P police’s actions against IDPs,” he added.
On the other hand, Rashid said the federal government was providing possible assistance to the IDPs. He also appreciated the efforts of Marvi Memon to provide relief to IDPs and called on the K-P government to give her ‘full respect and protocol’.
