The District Health Department Rawalpindi will launch a five-day special drive to create awareness among women of mother-child health.
Executive District Officer Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal said that during the drive, which starts from November 17, lady health workers (LHWs) will undertake a door-to-door visit to educate mothers about mother-child health and about measures that could be taken during pregnancies.
He said that the LHWs have been directed to raise awareness among mothers of importance of breastfeeding during the initial six months of birth.
The health official said that polio, measles, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis-B, pneumococcal and tuberculosis vaccinations would also be administered to the children below two years of age.
