Model town incident: Petition against CM dismissed
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed a petition, seeking the disqualification of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his alleged role in the June 17 Model Town violence.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of the LHC heard the case.
A law officer, appearing on behalf of the government, stated that the CM had immunity under Article 248 of the Constitution, so the petition against him was non-maintainable and should be dismissed.
Advocate Misbah Sarwar had filed the petition, submitting that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was involved in Model Town killings.
He requested the court to declare the CM disqualified.
