Why sparked your interest in modeling?

I liked the glamour the industry offered but enjoy makeovers and experimenting with new looks more. Modeling, photography and the creation of beautiful pictures is very rewarding for me.

What makes you different from your contemporaries?

The fashion industry encourages models, agents and even designers to think inside the box but isn’t used to embracing and cultivating what is unique. I enjoy experimenting with different looks and don’t care too much for what others might think or say.

What inspires you?

I think my greatest inspiration is my father whose constant motivation and passion for what he loved really pushed me to reach out for my dreams. I also believe that some challenges are important as they make our life interesting and prepare us to fight for ourselves. New, artistic ideas for poses or shoot settings also inspire me and I strive for something a bit different from what everyone else is doing.

Tell us about your personal fashion style?

I trust my instincts, and wear what makes me feel like the best version of myself.

Can women have it all?

I think having it all is a myth. We live in an ever-shifting, moment-by-moment dynamic world which doesn’t allow for that.

Is the Pakistani fashion industry welcoming to newcomers?

Yes! The industry is very open and welcoming but it also expects you to put in your best efforts.  People offer good advice but if you fail to grab it or ignore it, things can get rather nasty as well.  If you choose to be picky or difficult as a new entrant, nobody will wait a second before ignoring you. You have to choose not to objectify yourself if you don’t want people to objectify you.

If you could relive any one day of your life, it would be?

It would definitely be the days my father praised me for my work! I still remember his hugs and blessings! I was very much surprised by his faith in me and my work.

Who is your favourite designer and why?

I have several favourite designers as they are all very talented. I am in complete awe of Deepak Perwani, Nomi Ansari and Nida Azwer. In the international markets, my favourites are Armani and Valentino.

A beauty tip you swear by?

Wash your face and moisturise at least twice a day. It is also important to massage your skin properly during cleansing to get the blood flowing. Facial massage increases circulation, instantly brightens your complexion while helping to cleanse, detoxify and firm the skin.

Any advice for aspiring female models?

You must be able to handle all the hard work that also comes with it. Modeling is a skill and the more experience you have, the better you will become. Most importantly, remember that modeling isn’t just about being beautiful. Your intelligence, resolve and inner beauty are what will set you apart. Don’t shrink because that is what you feel the industry wants from you.
