Eight killed in clashes between LI and peace militia

BARA: At least eight people were killed, including five members of the banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and three members of pro-government militia Tauheedul Islam (TuI) during separate clashes between them on Thursday in different areas of Khyber Agency. Four TuI members were also injured during the fighting.

The first clash between LI and TuI took place in Zakhakhel area of Tirah valley on Thursday afternoon. According to officials in the area, five members of LI, including an important commander Spinbat Khan, were killed during the fight.

In another clash in the Nari Baba area of the agency, seven members of the TuI militia were injured. Later on three of the injured succumbed to injuries, sources said.

Meanwhile the migration of tribesmen from Malikdinkhel and Sipah area of Bara, Khyber Agency continued on Thursday. The Assistant Political Agent Bara had given the residents of Sipha and Malikdinkhel till Thursday afternoon to evacuate their house, said an official of political administration.

He further said that the deadline, initially set for Wednesday evening, had been extended by the political administration.

According to sources, most of the residents have left the area and shifted to safe locations in Peshawar and other parts of K-P.
