ISLAMABAD: PAF continued to lead the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) despite recording a goalless draw with Army in Lahore on Wednesday.

PAF are leading the table with 21 points after playing 12 matches in the tournament, and their manager Arshad Khan said that it will be crucial for the team to maintain a lead of at least six points from the rest of the 11 sides.

Army remain on the second place, missing an opportunity to take the first spot with a win.

NBP down Afghan FC 2-1

NBP registered their third win in the season as they defeated Afghan FC 2-1 to secure the precious three points that enabled them to climb from 10th place to seventh with 12 points.

Afghan FC’s Rehman drew first blood as he scored in the ninth minute. However, NBP bounced back into the game as Muhammad Aziz Ahmed equalised in the 34th minute, while Sanaullah’s goal in the 75th minute sealed victory for the bankers.

“I’m very happy with the team, especially the young players,” NBP coach Nasir Ismail told The Express Tribune.

“Aziz is just 15 years old, but he played maturely. I’m hoping that the team continues with the momentum. But I can predict that the margin of points in this season will not be much between the league winners and the top five. Even the teams in bottom half will be competing closely.”
