The bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, heard a contempt of court application filed by Karachi Port Trust’s (KPT) estate manager, who alleged that Akhtar had illegally encroached upon land in Jungle Shah Keamari to construct the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital in violation the court’s stay order.
The applicant said that provincial government had asked KPT to provide a plot in Keamari to construct the hospital. He alleged that provincial authorities unlawfully encroached upon the land after the KPT refused to give it to them.

The estate manager informed the judges that on February 27, 2013, a SHC bench had granted a stay against usurpation of the land. The court was therefore pleaded to initiate contempt proceedings against the former minister for deliberately violating the court order.
On September 5, the court had issued bailable warrants for arrest of Jadoon in sum of Rs100,000 to ensure his attendance after he failed to appear on the court’s notice.
On Tuesday, the former minister was absent and that irritated the judges.
The bench issued non-bailable warrants for his arrest through the SHO concerned to procure his attendance by the next date of hearing.
