Flood aid: 720 families get compensation in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: At the start of the second phase of compensation payment for flood-affected people, 720 families were given cheques on Tuesday in Bahawalpur.

In Ahmadpur East, MNA Makhdoom Syed Ali Hassan Gilani distributed cheques among the flood-hit people of the area.

Talking to the media, Gilani said the third phase of compensation would commence soon.

Separately, 500 families of Shakrani and Noorpur Jadeed villages were given compensations.

The families were provided Rs10,000 for damage to crops, Rs55,000 for rebuilding completely destroyed homes and Rs25,000 for repairing partially destroyed houses.

Bahawalpur Additional District Collector Imrana Ajmal monitored the cheque distribution process. MPA Qazi Adnan Fareed, Ahmadpur East Assistant Commissioner Haq Nawaz Chauhan, DSP Ahmadpur East Shafqat Atta and the Uch Sharif SHO visited the centres.
