Be careful: Changing weather risky for children

KARACHI:

Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA) central president Prof Dr Iqbal Memon said that the changing weather conditions bring along a higher risk of respiratory infections, pneumonia, typhoid, malaria and dengue fever cases in children.

Memon said that some diseases like measles, flu, cough and respiratory infections are generally reported during winters and children are the most vulnerable due to their comparatively weaker immune systems.

He said that precautionary measures are the need of the hour.

He said that vaccination courses are a complete package for growing children. Stressing on the importance of children's health, he said that if vaccines are unavailable in government hospitals then parents should approach private hospitals.

He lauded the efforts of the provincial health department for launching the polio vaccination drive.
