QUETTA: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in parts of Balochistan on Friday to protest against the targeted killings and enforced disappearance of Baloch political activists. The strike was called by Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M). Agha Hassan Baloch, Secretary Information, BNP-M said the strike was called to protest against the extra-judicial arrest of relatives of Dr Jahanzaib Jamaldini from Naushki district. They have been missing for the past one month. Trade and business activities in Baloch dominated districts remained at a standstill during the day. All the shops and markets in Mastung, Khuzdar, Naushki, Kharan, Wadh, Kalat, Kharan, Panjgur, Turbat and Baloch dominated areas of Quetta were closed. “Apparently, the provincial government is following the polices of the Musharraf regime as the targeted killings of political workers, illegal raids and human rights violations are still going on in Balochistan,” Agha Hassan said.
