LAHORE:

General cadre doctors in BS 20, 19 and 18 have not been promoted two years after the government approved a revised service structure for them, General Cadre Doctors Association (GCDA) president Masood Akhtar Sheikh said on Friday.

He told an association’s meeting that doctors, especially those of general cadre, had not been promoted after 18 to 20 years of services in BS 18 and 22 to 30 years of service in BS 19.

Sheikh said the revised service structure plan, signed by the doctors’ association, had been approved by the cabinet, including the chief minister.

He said the doctors had not been promoted. He accused the bureaucracy of delaying the matter. He said even a four-tier formula related to promotions had not been implemented.

Sheikh said the authorities had assured doctors in BS 18 that their service structure would be revised in four months. He said not a single doctor had been promoted two years after the agreement.

The GCDA also passed a resolution asking the Health Department to promote the doctors within a month; otherwise doctors would observe a ‘black day’ on December 7.
