Governance: E-office implementation reviewed
IT minister says govt committed to promoting digital environment

Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rahman said the implementation of e-office suite is in progress.
She was chairing a meeting to review progress made so far to roll-out e-office applications in federal ministries and divisions. The Minister said the system is being introduced for automation of core businesses of the government to ensure efficiency, accuracy and accountability in decision making and delivery of efficient and cost-effective services.
The main purpose of the e-office replication module is to promote less paper and digital government. The Executive Director of National IT Board (NITB) informed the meeting that a roll out of e-office suite is in progress in nine federal ministries and divisions.
Additionally, a multi-ministry, single instance application has been developed and installed at central repository.
E-government fibre-optic based dedicated and secure intranet has been established for e-communication among federal government and its ministries and divisions.
It was further explained that NITB trained more than 1,400 federal government employees on e-government system and the rest of the employees will be trained in the phased manner.
Rehman said after the roll out of e-office systems it shall then be the responsibility of all federal ministries and divisions to take ownership of the system and pursue necessary steps for proper change management including establishment of basic IT infrastructure and usage of system.
