PM meets army chief, vows to eliminate terrorism from country
Gen Raheel and Prime Minister Nawaz also spoke about comprehensive approaches to fight terror in the country

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met army chief General Raheel Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss the tragic Wagah Border blast, which killed 61 people and injured scores others and vowed to eliminate terrorism from the country, Radio Pakistan reported.
The premier and the army chief discussed the current security situation of the country, particularly the coordinated operation against terrorism in the country.
Prime Minister Nawaz and Gen Raheel also discussed comprehensive approaches to fight terror in Pakistan, including the role of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta)
According to Express News correspondent Khalid Mehmood, the army chief claimed that the bombing at the border near Lahore occurred as a reaction to ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan.
A high-level meeting on national security was held in the federal capital on October 17 to discuss various internal and external threats posed to the country and devise strategies to tackle them, an official handout said.
Although the handout did not add much about its agenda, sources told The Express Tribune that the meeting chaired by the prime minister paid particular attention to tensions with India along Pakistan’s eastern frontier, the likelihood of terrorist activity in Muharram against the backdrop of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the announcement by certain Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) factions to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) and the implementation of the National Security Policy.
