ISLAMABAD: The United States condemned on Monday the ‘senseless’ act of terrorism at the Wagah border and offered to help Pakistan.

“On behalf of the American people, I extend my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the government and people of Pakistan,” US ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson said in a statement.

“This act demonstrates terrorists’ blatant disregard for life. The United States remains steadfast in its commitment to the people of Pakistan in their efforts to counter terrorism, uphold the rule of law, and build a peaceful future for themselves and their children,” the statement added.

Olson further extended the United States support for Pakistan’s efforts to bring all those involved in planning and executing this attack to justice.

“We stand ready to provide any appropriate assistance to authorities investigating this tragic attack.”
