KARACHI:

The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), in collaboration with the Anti-Violent Crime Cell, rescued an abducted man from captivity on Saturday.

Muhammad Hammad, 32, was kidnapped from Landhi Town three days ago. The kidnappers called his family and demanded Rs5 million as ransom. CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy said that the family approached the CPLC on Friday, adding that a joint team made up of CPLC and AVCC officials was formed to work on the case.

"One of the kidnappers was arrested when he, along with his comrades, arrived to collect the ransom money in Korangi, where the officials were already present," said Chinoy. Hammad was rescued with the help of information provided by the arrested kidnapper, identified as Muhammad Riaz. The CPLC are searching for two more suspects, including a woman.
