A woman committed suicide by jumping into a water channel of the Ghazi Barotha Power Project, police said on Saturday.
Ghazi police quoted Naseem Bibi of Khairbara village saying her sister Saima Bibi, 23, was married to Irshad in Haripur city.
However, the couple had an uneasy relationship and Saima was living with her parents for the past few months.
Naseem added the couple had no children.
On Friday afternoon, Saima was coming back from the local market
when she got a call from her husband who
allegedly abused her over the phone.
Infuriated, Saima handed her cell phone and the money she was carrying to Naseem and jumped into a high speed water channel.
Police and divers searched for Saima’s body but failed to recover it till Saturday morning. She is believed to be dead.
