The governor awarded degrees to 460 PhD, MPhil, MA and MSc scholars and 37 gold medals to high achievers. The graduates included 317 female students and 143 males.
“We are well on course to achieve excellence in academia, however, quality should never be compromised over quantity,” said Mehtab. Maintaining an up-to-par student-teacher ratio is essential for ensuring quality,” said the governor.
Mehtab said the youth should tap opportunities by translating new advancements into reality. “
Referring to the annual report presented by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Rasool Jan, the governor said weak financial positions lead to compromises and steps are needed to be taken to make institutions self-sustainable. He lauded the initiatives of the university administration in this regard.
Mehtab also praised the graduates for their hard work and reminded them of the debt they owe to the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Jan said the university now has 49 departments, institutes and constituent institutions, 628 faculty members, including 249 PhD scholars and is striving towards knowledge application studies.
