
The MoU was signed by UET’s Vice Chancellor Imtiaz Gilani and Adamjee Paper Mills General Manager Zainul Abrar. According to the MoU, the premises will be rented out for six years at a monthly rent of Rs0.85 million.
Speaking on the occasion, Imtiaz Gilani billed the project as an important milestone for economic development in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, adding the university will provide technical training to young people.
According to Gilani, the university would be up and running by 2015. TU Project Manager Dr Sadiq Khattak said assistance will be sought from universities in France for curriculum development and technology sharing to bring the university at par with international standards.
K-P’s secretary for industries Sajid Khan Jadoon said the university should be different from conventional universities and have an emphasis on demand-driven technologies. Jadoon also stressed the need to introduce state-of-the-art laboratories at the university and assured the government’s cooperation in completing the project within a specific timeframe.
