Misleading the nation: MNA’s disqualification case adjourned

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned hearing of a petition seeking disqualification of National Assembly Member Asfandyar Bhandara for three weeks. Justice Ayesha A Malik was hearing the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Inqalab through its chairman.  The petitioner’s counsel told the court that Bhandara was elected on a seat reserved for minorities. He said the MNA was a tax defaulter and a reference was pending against him before an accountability court.  The counsel said the MNA had lied to the election commission in this regard. The counsel contended that the petitioner did not fulfil criteria set in Article 62 and 63.  He said directions be issued for the MNA’s disqualification.  The MNA’s counsel sought three weeks to file his reply. The court accepted the request and adjourned haring for three weeks.
