Ahead of muharram: Emergency declared in govt hospitals

The district administration of Peshawar has declared a state of emergency in all major hospitals

PESHAWAR: The district administration of Peshawar has declared a state of emergency in all major hospitals in the city for the first 10 days of Muharram. During a review meeting held at his office on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Zahirul Islam informed the health department that an emergency will be imposed in all government hospitals for the first 10 days of Muharram. He announced that the leaves of emergency health staff have been cancelled as well. The deputy commissioner instructed medical staff to devise a contingency plan. He advised all hospitals to store a sufficient supply of medicines and make preparations for standby ambulances.
