Riaz is contesting against independent candidate Usman Nisar Pannu.
The by-polls in this constituency was announced after the demise of MPA Khurram Gulfam of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Earlier on Thursday, Pannu's supporters had allegedly attacked Riaz's vehicle, injuring 13 people near the Pakhyana polling station.
Heavy contingents of police and Rangers were summoned and polling was stopped at that particular station. PP-162 has 123 polling stations.
The by-election was previously scheduled to be held on September 26 but was rescheduled by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) owing to floods.

The win in Multan was a sign of Tabdeli but PML-N win in Sheikhupura proves that elections can never be transparent in Pakistan.

I really feel bad for people who continue to support noora league and ppp. These same parties have been tried and tested over and over gain and have caused our great nation to be where it is now. The people who are supporting n-league are the same one who will be crying few months down the road about high electric bills, corruption, poor roads/trasnportation, lack of healthcare etc. Wake up people. Wake up.
