With the help of witnesses, a record and pictures of the culprit have been found which will lead to his eventual arrest.
In the robbery which took place on Sunday, October 19, five kilos of gold and foreign currency worth Rs20 million were reportedly stolen from the Edhi centre located in the Mithadar area. At the time of the robbery, Abdul Sattar Edhi was present at the centre.
The culprit, who has not yet been named is from the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi and is said to have been involved in several robberies and has previously been jailed.
In an attempt to gather as much information as possible, the police have collected statements and cellphone details of around two dozen men and women serving and former staff members of the foundation.
The police reportedly have the evidence needed and a thorough search of the city has commenced to find and arrest the culprits.

how much money has been recovered?..
I am surprise about all these posters who are criticizing the newspaper for publishing the details of suspect. in almost all the western countries when a suspect is wanted in the crime, they publish his or her picture on the papers and even on the TV news bulletin, so people through out the country will be alerted and contact the police as soon they spot the person in question, and in most cases they get the person arrested. But I guess in Pakistan even public don't want to help. God save this country.
@just_someone: zardari is honest
I see two lessons in this episode for the government:
1) don't use all the police force from the whole province to safeguard a crook and his son. 2) The police can find the criminals if they want to - rather if they don't pay their share to the police.
We need an overhauling of the system NOW!
Gonawazgo #Gozardarigo #bilawal is a zardariMr,Edhi is a very respected and honest person in Pakistan. But this 5 kilo of gold and 20 million is not a good sign. We live in 21century where banking is available in every corner of Karachi. and this money is from Edhi foundations . Why it is kept in the house. If this is his personal money and Gold. No question? Than Edhi is a real rich man.
We have yet to read the good news of recovery of the looted amount. Mr Edhi should also be careful in future and never keep valuables & cash in his office at Karachi.
Sadly, I have to say this.... Minus Edhi, there doesnt seem to be a single person left in Pakistan that is honest.
@Parvez: If money found shall go in pockets of Policemen.
...Rs.16,750 were recovered from the premises of the dacoits but the culprits managed to escape the police. The DIG of Police praised the policemen for a job well done.
Catch them....get the money back.......and then give it as news.
no money will be recovered, few killed in police battle, or will this get resolved differently this time?
@Hady: OK I'm pretty sure the robber does not read ET. I do agree with your comment the media needs to back off some times but in this case as long as the Urdu press hasn't got a hold of it or hasn't published anything there is still hope. I really hope these people are lashed in front of the entire city, Edhi is off limits for every one!
Why on earth ET, you needed to share this sensitive information before his arrest, even indicated his area? Is this a news or help extended to robber so he may flee?
