Saving the endangered: Chinkara deer recovered in raid

BAHALWALPUR: A Wildlife Department team on Saturday recovered a pair of Chinkara deer and partridges being smuggled to Peshawar in a raid.

Tahir Ameen Joyia, in-charge of the team, told newsmen that they had received a tip-off that animals were being smuggled to Peshawar by bus.

He said he took a team stopped a bus leaving for Peshawar and recovered a pair of infant Chinkara deer and 60 partridges were recovered.

He said Ali Muhammad, a resident of Ahmadpur East, was also arrested.

Joyia said Ali Muhammad was presented in the court of a special judicial magistrate, who fined him of Rs10,000.

He said the Chinkara deer were handed over to the Wildlife Department.
