Kidnapping case: Woman recovered, four arrested

Police say kidnappers demanded a Rs20 million ransom from the family

ISLAMABAD: The Margalla police claimed to have recovered a kidnapped student without paying any ransom and have arrested four suspected kidnappers, said a police spokesperson. M*, 22, a student at a university in Islamabad, was allegedly kidnapped from Sector G-8/2 on October 14. The police said that the kidnappers demanded a Rs20 million ransom from the family. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, a special team of the Margalla police traced the telephone calls of the kidnappers and raided a hideout and recovered the girl, the police said. The arrested men were identified as Zulqarnain Talat, Umer Sajjad, Wajidul Hassan and Muhammad Owais. Islamabad SSP Asmatullah Junejo announced cash awards for members of the police team.
