KHAR: Two FC officials were killed while the same number were critically injured when an IED exploded in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur Agency, said the political administration.

The FC men were fetching water for their check post when a remote-controlled IED went off near them in Mullah Said Banda. The deceased were identified as Waqas and Manzoor while the injured were shifted to Agency Headquarters Hospital, Khar from where they were taken to Peshawar. The political administration cordoned off the area and arrested some suspects following the incident.

Tehreek-e-Taliban spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid claimed responsibility for the blast while speaking to the media in Bajaur on phone from an undisclosed location.

Bordering the eastern province of Kunar in Afghanistan, Bajaur Agency has witnessed a spike in attacks on security personnel and pro-government tribal elders in recent days.
