Illegal detention: Five recovered from police custody

LAHORE: A bailiff appointed by Additional Sessions Judge Khwaja Zafar Iqbal has recovered five people, including two women, from the unlawful detention of Sherankot police. Sharifan Bibi had filed a complaint in the court saying that police had detained five members of her family. Iftikhar Khan, the bailiff, raided a factory near the Sherakot police station on the court’s order and recovered them. Police told the court they were wanted for nearly 100 incidents of thefts. They said that stolen valuables, including a van, had been recovered from the five people. The judge ordered their release observing police had not registered a case against them.
