Fashion Police: Metallic mayhem
Actor Mia Wasikowska surely knows how to carry the season’s metallics
The stars have descended on London to add a much needed splash of glamour and for some disaster, in a series of red carpet premieres and events taking place during the next two weeks at the London Film Festival 2014.

Outfit
Melissa Odabash is an American Fashion Designer for swimwear but after having a look at her fashion faux pas at the London Film Festival Red Carpet, we are surely reconsidering a peek at her collection. Well, this is all over the place Melissa! Encrusted with silver and black sparkly sequins, embroidery running from the neck and sleeves, down the bottom leaves her fitted gown in complete mayhem. Even though, metallics were all the rage at this year’s PLBW, the tone is doing nothing chic or classy for Odabash. Too much silver glitter and the excess of embellishments have her outfit looking like a stage costume rather than a red carpet gown. The look might have had the slightest of chances to work if Mellissa had gone easy with the black embellishments and kept her dress knee length for a less drag-queen appeal.
Hair and make-up
Melissa looks like bit of a Plain Jane in terms of make-up here. Her skin is glowing but lacks that dynamism. With as bling an outfit as that maybe she thought to keep her make-up minimalistic. However, by keeping her face so bland, she got attention for all the wrong reasons. We can blame Odabash’s unkempt, bed-head hair on the unpredictable London rainy weather but it was another boring blunder on parole. A simple bouffant would have actually made her complete look a bit more compact and a little less all over the place.
Accessories
The fact that Melissa has kept her accessories to a bare minimum is probably the only thing making her look slightly acceptable on the carpet. We have her carrying a matching black and silver clutch and glittery heeled sandals. We think that alternating both the items with plain black would have made the look a little less disastrous.
Who wore it better
Reese Witherspoon
Actor Reese Witherspoon stunned at the BFI London Film Festival. Her metallic snake print Stella McCartney gown certainly is working her curves and epitomised elegance. We like the balance of high tone silver meeting a deep black, creating just the perfect look for this season’s most popular shade. Witherspoon’s makeup was ultra-glam; she went in for a very sophisticated, full-coverage look with a brilliant shade of crimson lips on the red carpet. Va va voom Reese!
Mia Wasikowska
Actor Mia Wasikowska joined the red carpet for the screening of Madame Bovary at the London Film Festival. Mia breathes life into this metallic-silver Chanel Spring 2014 Couture futuristic-style dress which creates the illusion of a tiny waist. She surely knows how to carry the season’s metallics! Her pale make-up and simple hair up-do makes Mia look slender in sophistication. Her plain back pumps and dull silver clutch add the perfect touch of elegance to her ensemble.
