Power woes: Elders decry electricity suspension

CHARSADDA: Elders from Abazai union council of Charsadda have complained power supply has not been restored to their area since nearly three months despite paying their dues to the sub-divisional officer of Tangi. Haji Lal Muhammad, Haji Sher Bahadur, Mamoonur Rashid, Zahir Shah, Haji Azmat Khan and several other elders held a meeting to discuss the issue on Tuesday. They said they had paid thousands of rupees in dues but power supply to their union council has been suspended since Ramazan. The elders said they later learnt their share of electricity was being supplied to several areas of Mohmand Agency. They also accused Wapda officials in Charsadda of violating Supreme Court orders by suspending power supply to their area and threatened to protest outside the apex court if the matter was not resolved.
