Bukhari's had participated in the May 2013 general elections on a PML-N ticket from NA-153 in sub district Shujabad and the Jalal Pur Peer Waala district of Multan.
His election was challenged by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Rana Qasim Noon, who had contended that Bukhari's degree was fake and that requested that he should be declared ineligible to run in the upcoming elections.
The application stated that all the educational credentials of Bukhari, from Intermediate to Masters were invalid.
Subsequent investigations by the Bahawalpur election tribunal found merit in Noon's allegations. As a result, the ECP has de-notified Bukhari's membership from the National Assembly.
PPP workers acknowledged the decision of the election commission. Qasim, while talking to The Express Tribune, said he was glad that the investigation was carried out with merit.
The ECP is now expected to announce a date on which by-elections will be held on NA-153 in Multan.

It took around seventeen months for election commission to get the degrees validated of a member of parliament while for the awam it takes a couple of days. And the next thing would be that this decision will be challenged in court and we are already know what the decision would be. Sadly the election commission has become another redundant institution in our country where retired people relax and enjoy perks for doing nothing.
Ah, so in case JH looses this week's by election, he'll have another chance from this seat :)
