Ghazi murder case: Court summons Musharraf on Nov 8

Musharraf has been accused of killing Lal Masjid’s ‘prayer leader’ Abdul Rasheed Ghazi during 2007 military operation

ISLAMABAD: A local trial court on Tuesday rejected a plea by former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf seeking a permanent exemption from appearance in the Abdul Rashid Ghazi murder case, and summoned the former military ruler on November 8. Additional sistrict and sessions Judge (ADSJ) Wahid Ali rejected Musharraf’s application. This was the third application which was rejected by the court since the case is filed in trail court. Musharraf, who faces a litany of legal charges, has been accused of killing Lal Masjid’s ‘prayer leader’ Abdul Rasheed Ghazi during the 2007 military operation. On Tuesday, Musharraf’s counsel, advocate Akhtar Shah, requested the court to exempt his client’s personal appearance permanently, citing security reasons. He informed the court that his client is facing threats especially since terrorists attacked city district court situated in F-8.
