NHA accountant kidnapped

This comes after NHA assistant director went missing from the area.

QUETTA: An official of the National Highways Authority (NHA) was seized by armed men from near Killa Saifullah district on Sunday. This comes days after the NHA Assistant Director in Sibi Branch, Khalid Memon, went missing from the area. According to Levies sources, Muhammad Ajmal, an accountant at the NHA, along with his four friends was travelling to Quetta from Chaman when armed men intercepted his car near Mazai Adda, a local bus terminal, and whisked him away.

“Muhammad Ajmal, who belongs to Sargodha district in Punjab, was carrying salaries of employees,” Levies official Muhammad Amin told The Express Tribune. “The amount was Rs500,000,” he added.

Law enforcers have cordoned off the area and mounted a manhunt for the kidnappers.

According to the Industrial police station Quetta, Khalid Memon, an Assistant Director of the NHA, Sibi Branch, has been missing for the past seven days. A FIR has been registered in which the complainant said that Memon left for Sibi on November 6 and since then he has been missing. Police said the Assistant Director NHA Quetta, Dawood Ali, registered the case on Sunday about the mysterious disappearance of Memon.

Separately, at least five people were killed and more than 40 injured in separate road accidents in different parts of Balochistan on Sunday.
