Par excellence: Girls outshine boys in special candidates’ intermediate exams

KARACHI:

Female students outperformed their male counterparts as around 94% of them have passed the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, (BIEK) part-I exams held for special candidates (regular) as compared to 87.5% boys.

BIEK examinations controller Muhammad Imran Khan Chishti said that 49 girls and 40 boys had appeared in these exams, from which 46 girls and 36 boys cleared all six papers. The total pass percentage became 91.01.

Sharing a comparative analysis, he said that a total of 70 candidates had appeared in these exams in 2013 as compared to the 90 this year. He added that only 67 cleared all the exams last year, while in contrast, 81 passed this year.

The BIEK has also announced the result for Diploma in Physical Education, 2014. Chisti said that not even a single candidate could clinch ‘A’ or ‘A1’ grades. “However, 63.64 per cent of the candidates bagged the ‘B’ grade,” he said.
