NA panel passes resolution against Indian aggression on border

ISLAMABAD: Members of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control unanimously passed on Tuesday a resolution condemning Indian aggression on the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary.

The resolution came hours after Pakistani and Indian military officials spoke by hotline after days of intense cross-border firing in the disputed region of Kashmir heightened tensions.

Some nine members of the NA committee, including Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid, censured Indian troops whose unprovoked shelling has killed least 12 Pakistani citizens and injured 50 others in the past two weeks.

The resolution moved by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl MNA Naeema Kishwar Khan urged the United Nations to take notice of continued Indian aggression on the border.

The resolution urged the UN to resolve the issue of Kashmir in light of its resolution passed soon after both countries got independence.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement MNA Nabil Gabol urged the government to respond to India with full force. He suggested the NA panel should visit the villages and towns along the border and condole with bereaved families.

“The committee's chairman Rana Shamim should talk to commanders of the Pakistan Army and civilian administration to execute the proposed plan,” Gabol suggested.

Narrating his experience after visiting bereaved families in the Sialkot sector of the border, Zahid said, “We were lucky enough, Indian troops started shelling soon after we left the bordering areas.”

The committee will meet again on Wednesday to discuss the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Act, 2013, the criminal law (amendment) bill, 2014, (insertion of new section, act XLV of 1860) and some other sections accordingly.

Sid | 10 years ago | Reply @Haider: In time of war the first thing which dies is "truth". This also applies to our case. What gives India "benefit of doubt" is that Pakistan has clearly maintained that it will support even the arms uprising and jihad in Kashmir. The world sees that as aggressive policy of the state which is highly irresponsible way to resolve a conflict. This with the history of using terrorism as state instrument (e.g. Mujahideen for Afghan war against Russia, Taliban later on and LeT for Kashmir) makes more government in worldbody wary of Pakistan. This whther you like or not puts Pakistan in bad light. And all the army operation against TTP is not going to help until Pakistan eliminates each and every terrorist network and not only those whom your army deems as terrorist. With all this complexity and constant nuclear threat is why you guys are left with no support. 67 years you spend focusing on how to break India rather than how to make yourself more economically independent and strong nation. Having nukes doesnt make you strong. Education, economy and strong diplomacy to make world follow your whims is what makes you truly strong. Please take my comment as a concern and not an attempt to embarrass or humiliate you.
