Tragic: 8 killed in three accidents

Dead include a woman, her two daughters and a son

MULTAN: Eight people died in three incidents in Sahiwal, Vehari and Dera Ghazi Khan on Saturday. Four members of a family died after their car rammed into a tractor trolley in Dera Ghazi Khan. The dead included a woman, her two daughters and a son. They were on their way to a wedding party when their car hit the trolley while overtaking another car in Tibbi Qaserani on Indus Highway. The tractor driver fled. The bodies were taken to the Dera Ghazi Khan district headquarters hospital. In other incident, three people died and five others were injured when a car hit two motorcycles in Chichawatni, a sub-district of Sahiwal. Police said four boys were racing on their motorcycles when they hit the car. Two of them died on the spot and a third passed away at a hospital. In Vehari, a man died and seven others were injured when an air compressor exploded at a tyres shop. “The tank exploded while the workers were filling it,” Arshad, one of the injred, said. “I passed out soon after the explosion. When I regained conscious, I found myself in the hospital,” he told the media. The injured were taken to the Vehari district headquarters hospital where doctors said their condition was stable. Police said separate cases had been registered and teams had been formed to investigate and arrest those responsible for the mishaps.
