In view of the recent spate of corruption allegations levelled against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Javed Nasim, PTI Chairman Imran Khan has formed a seven-member committee to investigate the charges.
The committee consists of PTI deputy general secretary and media adviser to chairman Imran Ismail, secretary information Shireen Mazari, additional secretary general Saifullah Niazi, MNA Arif Alvi, K-P education minister Atif Khan, former information minister Shah Farman and former health minister Shaukat Yousafzai.
A senior member of the party confirmed the formation of the committee to The Express Tribune.
The rebel MPA
Javed Nasim announced a sit-in in Peshawar cantonment against corrupt ministers on September 25. He had claimed he would be accompanied by a number of upstanding MPAs and the demonstration will not end until dishonest elements are booted out from the provincial cabinet.
Nasim was subsequently served a show-cause notice for breaching party discipline, however, he denied receiving any such notice on October 4, threatening to take the provincial party president to court if a notice is issued. Nasim had said that he has prepared a list of corruption cases and illegal appointments made by CM Khattak and that he will put forward all the evidence. Nasim was not available for comments despite repeated attempts to contact him.
