I will break Nawaz-Zardari partnership: Imran

MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has asserted he will soon break the partnership of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Addressing a mammoth PTI gathering at Ibn-e-Qasim Bagh Stadium on Friday, Imran hinted at the possibility of the PPP joining forces with the PTI, but then hastened to pour scorn on the party.

He said the leadership of both PPP and PML-N have stashed away billions in foreign banks. “They have filed false statements of assets before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).”

“Politics in Pakistan has become a business and we will end this lucrative enterprise,” he told the cheering crowd. The PTI chief announced that he will approach the Supreme Court and ECP for seeking access to the declaration of all assets of Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and their families.

He said that in the past politicians were either right-wingers, left-wingers or religious, but since the emergence of PTI all the three sets of politicians “have united against us” to cover up their wrongdoings.

The PTI chief announced constitution of a committee for carving new provinces in the country. “The aim of creating new provinces will not be to promote ethnic, lingual or racial differences within the country but to ease the challenges of the people,” he asserted.

Talking about the challenges faced by farmers in south Punjab, he said that the government needs to subsidise the agriculture sector and introduce reforms similar to those initiated by the Indian government.

“From fertilisers to electricity, our government will devise a strategy to promote the agriculture sector and will make arrangements to export all the commodities by providing subsidy to small farmers.”

Imran mentioned his upcoming rally in Larkana on November21, and termed it a day of deliverance for the suppressed people of Sindh. “I will give independence to Sindh from the feudal rule of Zardari and his coalition partners.”

The political gathering of PTI in Multan is considered as the biggest political gathering in the history of south Punjab.

PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi claimed that there were 150,000 participants in and outside the stadium — on the roofs of the houses, on trees, and on the roads, everywhere.

jay | 10 years ago | Reply Imran Khan should learn from the mistakes of his rhetorics against Nawaz-Zardari from Kejriwal's similar rhetorical statement against Congress-BJP in India in 2013. Kejriwal in tandem with commercial TV India media made an frontal attack 24/7 about corruption angle of Congress-BJP nexus during 2011-2013. On account of this India lost international credibility and suffered heavily in his progress on development from 9% growth to 4.5 % growth because of FDI reduced all time low. It is easy for IK to make an emotional pitch regarding anti corruption issue to give the pak people a false hope to bring development without having any of his clean and transparent experience of governance to his credit. Pak Media should not do any mistake of propagating IK's false agenda as has been done by Indian media with respect to Kejriwal. No doubt Indian media has learn the lesson and now busy exposing Kejriwal for his media savvy rhetorics and things are improving in India. Pak media should expose the overambitious desire of IK to become PM by giving fake hope of bringing good governance by replacing the existing corrupted Govt. Nawaz has been cornered and has been under pressure each time he formed government earlier by Musharaf. This time Nawaz should be given free and full time opportunity to provide good governance without any remote control from ISI/Army or from IK and Musharaf through their agitations. If Nawaz provided good governance he should be re-elected otherwise alternative government could be formed in next pak election. Media should not become victim of IK's rhetorics and cooperate with Nawaz in his attempt to bring development in Pak.

Whether one supports PTI or not fact is that the PML-N + PPP alliance is a huge problem for the country and will strengthen corruption in Pakistan.

PML-N fooled the public by saying they will get back money looted by PPP in the last elections. Now they are best friends. These politicians will do anything for power and money.

God please save our beloved Pakistan.
