By-polls: ECP bars ministers from electoral campaigns in NA-149
Under election laws, the incumbent prime minister, chief ministers and cabinet members cannot participate in campaigns for any candidate in the constituency.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also asked the contesting candidates to conclude their election campaigns 48 hours before the polling day, as per rules.
The national assembly seat NA-149 in Multan had fallen vacant after former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Javed Hashmi resigned from the seat. He subsequently announced that he would contest the seat as an independent candidate. It is believed that ruling PML-N is backing Hashmi in the by-elections.
ECP further said that a candidate is allowed to convene or attend any public meeting 48 hours before voting is due to start, while the election campaign will end at midnight between October 14 and 15.

The ECP on Thursday released the list of contesting candidates from NA-149.
A total of 18 candidates are contesting the by-election. While the PML-N has not nominated a candidate, the Pakistan Peoples Party has nominated Dr Muhammad Javed Siddiqui.

Javed Hashmi will easily win the election.Muslim League Nawaz is supporting him and as a Muslim league supporter I beleive that Javed Hashmi will win this Election INSHA ALLAH
@Muslim Leaguer: I think a neutral version of Javed Hashmi's plot might tell a different story and I know you might not be able to see the facts under the fear of a carnivore animal (lion). As a neutral student of politics, I think the guy disappointed many people who wanted to change their thinking about politics and otherwise who thought politics was a dirty game. Mir Jaffer might not be a villian and hate-able person for Angerez sarkar for being loyal to them, but principally speaking, Angerez Sarkar was also unable to trust him for breaking the values and his own principles. Javed Hashmi supports an attack on Supreme Court in 1999, led a protest from Lahore in 2014 and suddenly a realization from nowhere made him cut the chains Lolz..... It doesn't happen like that and especially when it comes to credibility and team work, it shows his worth!!!!! I think, we are slowly loosing values, credibility and principles in politics and these are the politicians who clearly send out the message that, not everyone could take part in such political vendettas and games BUT SOME HAVING ROYAL BLOOD!
Dear All, I have a eye witness who says Hashmi can do any thing to get money, he will be a loser in NA 149 if election conducted free and fair. So please understand why he is bagging support of N?
Make it controversial even if something has not happened. Thats the way of Imran Khan and his PTI. This attitude is now becoming sickening for the people with independent minds. IK your politics are the politics of negativity which will never bear fruits and even if by some chance, your party wins, this nation will pay dearly for it.
@Zain: Election Commission rules state; No sitting PM, CM and Member of Cabinet cannot campaign for any Candidate. Imran Khan is a member of National Assembly does not fit the rule of Prohibition.
@Anon: IK may not be PM or CM and never would be of Punjab or Sindh but everybody should stop election activities 48 hours before elections. There is no need to campaign in that time when it is not legal.
@Azmam Khan: Sir, all election campaign must end 48 hours before the election day. Why would IK be allowed to continue to campaign? No govt officials should take part in any campaign anytime before the elections. Hope you take this in a positive spirit and correct yourself. Hope I am not asking too much?

Javed Hashmi has called the Sharif brothers "COWARDS". Honestly I am not sure whether this was arranged or he really means it. Maybe after loosing the election Hashmi will say something about this after 2-3 years as he usually does.
@ Zain Imran Khan is PTI party head, he is not a minister or chief Minister. ECP only stop government officials. PMLN MNA and MPAs can campaign for Daghi.
What they actually failed to stop, was the involvement of the Governor KPK, who was PMLN through and through and should have been non-partisan!

I am no PTI supporter but JH will lose by a heavy margin- everyone in Multan says so- N will get a shock- in any case JH is a nobody in Multan politics he always basked in borrowed glory- he can't manage 10,000 in his original constituency- here he is banking on N, who may fetch him 25000 at best. He is a reputation of being dishonest and has been involved in all kinds of money making exercises for long
Javed hashmi never campaigned that much in Multan before. Who forced him now??? I personally think that 'daghi' will win this by-polls but not next general elections.

By the way there is a good possibility that Javed Hashmi will lose. PML(n) are going to support their darling JH once again and that's the reason why they have not fielded their candidate.

Javed Hashmi has already won which must be accepted whole heartedly unless one is his or her own enemy and inviting severe thrashing from none but PM Nawaz. Yes, ECP telling PML-N not to campaign for Hashmi but ECP couldn't stop real power holders from campaigning in earlier by-elections. Like when Imran Khan campaigned for 3 days in PK-45 (he even missed the NA budget session), held numerous jalsas and promised locals development schemes as the patron of KPK government.
