Addressed his workers in Karachi via a telephone call, Hussain said, "Everyone who is doubting the popularity of MQM, will see in the next elections how successful we will be and we will prove them all wrong."
He further said, "People who are saying that MQM's vote bank is empty should come and count the hides that we have been given."
The MQM chief went on to laud the hard work and courage of his workers, adding that God will bless them and give them success.
Workers were then given the opportunity to speak to Altaf Hussain one by one, all of whom wished him well for Eid.

Whenever MQM asks for a new province, the Sindhi élite dubs it as the division of Sindh and caters the demand with the most stupidest of the replies “MarsoonMarsoon Sindh na Daisoon” .
If Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claims himself a BHUTTO, then he should go through the history of his clan. BHUTTO is a Rajput clan that migrated from Indian Rajistan and to be specific, a place called Jaiselmere.
The tribe came with Setho Khan Bhutto about some two hundred years ago. The Bhutto family migrated to Sindh during the reign of Mughuls when Kalhoras were ruling in Sindh under the suzerainty of Mughul Emperors. They settled and established themselves in Taluka Ratodero, District Larkana and owned vast tracts of fertile land in the District of Larkana, Jacobabad and Shikarpur.
These Rajput converts probably became Muslims in the 18th century. Doda Khan Bhutto headed of the family during the Talpur Dynasty, and then during Charles Napier’s rule of Sindh. Doda Khan Bhutto worked to acquire large tracts of land, and was responsible for the vast land ownership of the Bhutto family. Benazir Bhutto herself, categorically stated in her autobiography that she is descended from Rajputs, and her biographer and close friend, Shyam Bhatia went on record to state that Benazir took pride in her Rajput ancestry. Here, I’ll even reproduce the exact quote: “But Pinky always took pride in her Rajput ancestry and said it was only during war that India and Pakistan hated each other. But in peace, they liked each other.” So if the forth or fifth generation of MUHAJIR RAJPUTS can become Sindhi, then why cant the second generation of URDU speaking Muhajirs be classified as SINDHIs, why are they still MUHAJIRS
Secondly if he claims to be a zardari, then for a remainder, ZARDARI tribe and family is also not from Sindh as well, they are a branch of HOOTH Baloch tribe, that migrated to Sindh a hundred years ago, thus making them MUHAJIRS (Migrants) as well. They are MUHAJIR themselves, HINDUSTORY. So when Bilawal Bhutto plus Zardari says MarsoonMarsoon and all that crap, I would like to ask “Beta Dadi Ji kia Bari main Lain theen Sindh”
Before claiming to be the son of the Sindhi soil, the Bhuttos and ZARDARIs should consult there history, and if they are Sindhi, then every Urdu speaking Muhajir is also an undisputed son of the soil.
The question is why cant there be more administrative units in Sind when peoples party openly supports Hazara and Bahalwapur province movements, why are they scared to create new provinces in Sind.
The fuss is about the resources. In 1973, the Government of Sindh imposed quota system in Sindh where the employment and admissions to the elite colleges and universities was not based on merit but on the ethnic origin and the place of residency.Same was the quota on government jobs and civil services. The distribution of QUOTA system in Sind is as follows
Merit 7.5 % Punjab (Including Federal Area of Islamabad) 50 % Sindh (Including Karachi) 19% The Share of Sindh will be further sub-allocated in the following ratio: Urban Areas, namely Karachi, Hyderabad &Sukkur 40% or 7.6 of 19% . Rural Areas i.e. rest of Sindh (Excluding Karachi, Hyderabad &Sukkur, 60% of 19% or 11.4%. out of 19 %) NWFP 11.5 % Balochistan 6 % Northern Areas and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas 4 % Azad Kashmir 2%
By this distribution Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur combined gets 7.6 percent of the total of Pakistan.
The population growth can challenge the distribution of wealth and quota system, that is why no census has been conducted in Pakistan after 1998. A basic example is, population of Karachi was 9 million in 1998 and the resources given to Karachi were according to that population, today rough estimates of the population of Karachi are beyond 20 million, but still governments don’t approve for a fresh census.
So for Bilawal Bhutto and everyone who oppose new provinces in urban Sindh, your maternal grandfather Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto laid down the foundations of divide between urban and rural Sindh. The most pertinent question is when there is a divide for resources, for quota then why cant there be a divide for administration. The answer is hidden in the financial audit of the funds given to Sindh. In 2013 Sindh budget, over Rs 675 billion are spent on rural area development and only Rs 30 billion in Karachi. The huge investments in rural Sindh infrastructure and educational institutions in last 40 years has been mostly wasted due to the poor planning, political corruption, feudalism and apathy of the rural population. The quota system hit the Muhajir community. The nationalization of Pakistan’s educational institutions, financial institutions and industry in 1972 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of Pakistan Peoples Party impacted the Muhajirs hardest as their educational institutions, commerce and industries were nationalized without any compensation. Then the quota system was introduced that limited their access to the education and the public service employment. Karachi is the largest commercial city of Pakistan and the Muhajirs are the main stakeholder in this city. This city generates about 70% of Pakistan’s revenue but this city is not governed by its local representatives as the elections of the local government was replaced by a commissioners.
The 675 billion given to rural Sindh in 2013 was mostly wasted on the “WaderaShahi”, came actually through the taxes paid by the Muhajir community in urban Sindh.
If Sindh is divided and Karachi Hyderabad and Mir purkhaas are made into one new province, then rest of the Sindh would neither have the population nor the tax collection to demand 675 billion in form of development funds. That too would not affect the poor people of Sindh because WaderaShahi doesn’t spend a dime on their people and this fact is known to everyone who is a Sindhi.
It’s about time that the representatives of Karachi start a campaign on this one point agenda; we want new administrative units in Sindh. They should start educating people, professionals and civil society about how rural Sindh is sucking the blood out of the veins of Urban Sindh.
Its time to come out of parliaments and speak for Karachi and other marginalized communities. Karachi looks up to its representatives.
A big NO to ethnic politics.
Time will silent all the PTI Lovers!!!!!!
mrs ahmed and Ayesha M Please keep sleeping as long as you want. For last 27 years situation of Karachi has deteriorated. Since the inception of MQM Karachi has experienced Bhattas, Bodies in gunny bags, torture cells, snatching of hides during Eid, damage to properties, forced strikes and associated activities such as setting buses on fire, vandalism of shops, firing by unknown riders, targeted killings, introduction of cheating in academic institutions of Karachi, threatening of teachers and students, discriminatory slogans and introduction of wall chalking full of ethnic hatred, damage to community cohesion etc. as All this wasn’t there !!!!!!! before 1987.
@mrs Ahmed It is unfortunate; Like most MQM supporters you too are confused and unaware of the ground realities. Distorting history will not get you anywhere.
ET , pls publish ,i remain adhered to the party which has been striving to the extent of sacrificing 15000 plus lives is working hard for the rights and emancipation of populace of karachi and urban sind for last 30 plus years , it is there wisdom and vision and sheer hard work which keeps me attached and i continue to vote for MQM , till such time that better option arise , till now all medioricrity and false hollow words for gaing seats , never a word for true karachhites , it is MQM and only MQM for karachi and urban sind
@ashar: strange after gaining 80% seats in karachi , u are saying lost against PTI, whole world knows how PTI was awarded NA250, only those polling stations were allowed a re poll which were heavily in favour ofPTI, i dont understand why would poeple favour PTI in next election , in karachi , PTI has no concrete program for the woes of karachi , it does not speak about local body election , , no locally recruited police no directly elected mayor , no pwerful city govt , not a word against atrocities committed against karachiites and urban sind ,liker pucca qilla , like suhrab goth , like 30 september ,like qasba aligarh , very recently in year 2010 beheading of urdu speakers in lyari , in kati pahari , it just remembers 12 may .never a word for such low grants for devlopement in karachi and urban sind against so much money poured into interior sind with no result . I dont think karachiites i mean true blood karachiites whose elders have given sweat and blood and also tears for building karachi , since 1947 , would vote for anyone who does not speak for their real issues like transport , health , civic needs education ,all remain assured that karachi will continue to vote with vision and wisdom , for the which has been struggling for its people for last 30 plus years
@Aysha M: We all know how that happened... The namaloon afraad were out doing their dirty work!
@Fatima: More importantly, Brits protect Brits!
yes you are right but not without rigging
Yawn!!!!!!!!
@Aysha M: The scenarios of General elections and bye elections are entirely different. You know that. And this time IK will come with preparations. He will take up the issues MQM has long forgotten.
@ashar: Please refer to the results of by-elections August 2013. MQM won all 4 seats, how does that translate into losing to PTI
All I want to say to the haters of MQM that your PTI didnt even bother to nominate candidates in half of the karachi constituencies in 2013 . and to the people who question MQM popularity and rigging allegations please check the results of NA-254 the only seat out of 272 where the election conducted by not police not rangers but by Pak Army. and who won?
I can bet dollars for donuts that MQM and PTI both have peaked and they would not secure as many seats as they have now. Bhai has a habit of making daily statement and then deny them most of the time. He wants to remain relevant while enjoying UK perks. These lifelong leaders and professional politicians have their families safe in the West while they want the poor followers to suffer hardships in Pakistan.
is he saying that it was NOT successful in the last election? I thought that they had won most of the seats?
Not when you throw those parchis in houses.
Must be dreaming or drunk again !!!!
If only electoral system remain the same. Yes AH you are correct!
No mention of bilawal as expected. Thieves protect each other
This man is not current on the change. He will be eventually.Days of torture cells are gone. He should worry about himself. Metro Police has yet to conclude the pending investigations of money laundering and murder of first degree.
Wishful thinking to say the least!!! PTI all the way!!! na maloom afraad down away!!!!
With this present lot of Rabita Committee my comment is a BIG NO. Please dont even think about it. You have already lost 2013 in the hands of Imran Khan.
I think MQM can no longer be related to the voice of common people but to the voice of corrupt and terrorizing individuals, who will shut down the metropolis if anything is done against them.
May God save Karachi from them. Amen
